TATRAPAN - Armoured terrain multipurpose vehicle

The vehicle is designed in conformity with requirements of war activities for combat and transport means in the sphere of armoured protection, multi-purpose use, effectiveness and reliability. The construction of the vehicle allows mutual interchange ability of variable superstructures to fulfil different war tasks. The basic variant serves for transportation of twelve persons (in emergency - fourteen) equipped with small arms and personal equipment. The vehicle is provided with 7.62 mm and 12.7 mm machine guns on the cabin and superstructure respectively. The purpose-built superstructure can work independently of the chassis due to electric power unit.

TATRAPAN MOD - Modernised version

The basic goals for modernization were implementation of more powerful water-cooled engine, automatic gearbox and more efficient air conditioning unit. The reasons were done by requirements for operation in ambient temperature of +55°C and improved cross-country capability. Another requirement was to increase the mine protection of the vehicle significantly. Together with these tasks also other subassemblies were reconstructed, reinforced or added. So that there are stiffened axles due to higher gross vehicle weight and the whole power transmission was reinforced to transmit higher output of the engine. The top and sides of the cabin and superstructure are protected against solar radiation and in the same time against passive and thermo-observation means.
