RERIEVER Remotely operated vehicle RETRIEVER (hereinafter ROV) is capable of being remotely controlled over a range of 100 m line of sight both in light cross country and urban environment with a view to locate and investigate suspicious subjects. It is invaluable assets in the hands of Bomb Disposal Units of the Army, Police and other Paramilitary forces to monitor the space in transport vehicles of mass transportation, like bus, train, plane etc. With its dimensions, RETRIEVER ROV allows to be moved in the aisles of buses, planes, trains etc. Its handling arm allows to inspect and handle subjects in the transportation means, whether located freely or in baggage compartments. RETRIEVER ROV can also be deployed within buildings and climb stairs for handling of hazardous material. RETRIEVER ROV consists of the following parts:
The undercarriage of RETRIEVER ROV is put on four independent drive wheels or trucks. There is a handling arm, a pair of supporting legs ensuring transversal stability, four supporting arms with wheels ensuring stability in forward and backward directions. The handling arm is an articulated one with seven degrees of freedom, consisting of three arms. The lower joint can rotate in the RETRIEVER ROV body and allows rotation of the whole arm towards longitudinal axis. The middle joint allows the following part of the arm to be lifted. The third and fourth joints allow rotation of the following part of arms thus provinding more detailed inspection of space and better arm handling in space. RETRIEVER ROV is equipped with 4 cameras. One is located in the area of a gripping mechanism, supplemented with lighting and serving for detailed scanning while RETRIEVER ROV is gripping the object. The second one is a surveillance colour camera with lighting and optical zoom, rotation and tilting functions. It is located on the extended part of the end arm. The last two cameras are located in the front and rear parts of the undercarriage and they are utilized for orientation during travel and for monitoring the arm position with respect to the undercarriage in space. |
