ALIGATOR 4x4 - Chemical, biological and radiological vehicle reconnaissance

ALIGATOR 4x4 – Chemical, biological and radiological vehicle reconnaissance is a CBR reconnaissance and protection workstation built on the ALIGATOR 4x4 vehicle and designed:

  • to conduct chemical, biological and radiological reconnaissance in the designated area of operations from inside or outside the vehicle,
  • to monitor areas contaminated by dangerous chemical and toxic chemical agents and biological substances,
  • to provide chemical, biological and radiological surveillance,
  • to acquire nuclear explosion parameters,
  • to transfer chemical, biological and radiological updates and to issue warning signals,

To execute these missions, the vehicle is equipped with:

  • a specialised upgrade comprised of a set of instruments, means and devices of specialised equipment,
  • communications and signal systems, navigation and observation systems, and a control system,
  • a set of specialised instruments, means and devices that enables detection of dangerous chemical and toxic chemical agents in the terrain, remote stand-off detection of chemical agents and dangerous chemicals, detection of biological substances in the air, detection of crew radiation exposure levels, demarcation of zones and areas contaminated by chemical, biological and radiological agents, collection of gas, vapour and aerosol samples of chemical, biological and radiological contamination from inside the vehicle or on foot and their transport to a laboratory for analysis, collection of terrain samples conducted from inside the vehicle or on foot, issuance of warning signals, vehicle camouflage, crew and vehicle decontamination,
  • to seat three crewmembers.

ALIGATOR 4x4 – Chemical, ciological and radiological vehicle reconnaissance has been incorporated into the inventory of the Slovak Armed Forces.
